Welcome To My Blog

Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again. Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.

Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content. I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. As such, if I have inadvertently "trodden on anyone's toes" in posting anything then please let me know & accept my apologies. Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week. So now I've told you the legal bit !

THE CLASH : Electric Circus, Manchester, 8/5/77

Here's a well known boot ("Take It Or Leave It"), from the legendary but short lived Manchester Punk / New Wave Venue, the Electric Circus. A disused cinema in Collyhurst, a not too nice part of town (& it still ain't !!) that saw the likes of The Pistols, Jam, Clash, Buzzcocks, Joy Division, Magazine, Drones, Fall, Slaughter & the Dogs, John Cooper Clarke & many more play. Loads of footage shot there is available on "The Way They Were" Granada TV compilation. Here's a '77 Clash set, with The Pistols (1976) to follow...
For Martin...

  5. Nah, Granada didn't film this gig. The footage shown on 'So It Goes' was recorded 6 months after this gig, & it was filmed at The Elizabethan Ballroom, Belle View. Apparently, the copper knob wasn't Hucknall, either - that's supposed to be a folk myth.

PS - Cheers for the download, Bertie ;-)

    MASSIVE FORTY THREE YEARS!
