Welcome To My Blog

Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again. Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.

Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content. I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. As such, if I have inadvertently "trodden on anyone's toes" in posting anything then please let me know & accept my apologies. Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week. So now I've told you the legal bit !

Neil Young : A Manchester City Legend

I recently made reference to Neil Young in a football themed post - now it is with heavy heart that I have to update the blog with some tragic news.
(Young pictured far right, alongside Tony Book, Francis Lee & Mike Summerbee).

66 year old Young was an elegant striker / inside left in the late 60s and early 70s that saw City win the Championship, Charity Shield, League Cup, FA Cup & European Cup Winners' Cup. He scored a total of 107 goals for City in 412 appearances in all competitions.

It has recently been announced that he is tragically suffering from terminal cancer, and is being treated at my local Hospital, in Wythenshawe Manchester. An appeal has been launched to support his family and to raise funds for the Cecilia Centre @ Wythenshawe Hospital.

Paypal donations can be made via the paypal link on the official Man City Supporters' Club website :

City's FA Cup game vs Leicester City on Sunday Jan 9th has been dedicated to Young : appropriate as his goal against the Foxes saw City win the 1969 FA Cup final.

I had the privilege of meeting Neil once @ a Supporters Club meeting and found him a warm, witty feller, not embittered by the generally harsh life he has endured. I will treasure his signed autobiography and football cards.
