Welcome To My Blog

Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again. Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.

Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content. I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. As such, if I have inadvertently "trodden on anyone's toes" in posting anything then please let me know & accept my apologies. Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week. So now I've told you the legal bit !

THE JAM : 100 Club, 11/9/77

This is one of the very first Jam bootlegs I bought -  don't know why I haven't blogged it before. Anyhow, this is an early gig from the 100 Club, London, in 1977. It is dated 11/9/77, though other versions state the date is 23/11/77. This has also been bootlegged under the title "A Bomb In Oxford Street", and is rumoured variously to be a BBC or US Radio broadcast. I'd go for the BBC, as The Jam were never that huge in the States, particullarly at this early stage in their career...

Weller penned tracks from the 1st two LPs form the bulk of the tracklisting, as well as several cover versions, including "Slow Down" (Larry Williams), "So Sad About Us" (The Who), "Heatwave" (Martha & The Vandellas) & "Sweet Soul Music" (Arthur Conley).

For Bill, Dougal, Stacks & Ally.

  2. I seem to remember having a copy of this somewhere (vinyl possibly) on which the gig is introduced on American radio (some Boston station?), so that idea isn't too far fetched.
    Best regards

  9. Thanks for all the comments. Next up from The Jam should be Reading University (1979) . The flac - mp3 conversion of Vancouver 1982 is almost done with only three tracks left, though these are proving troublesome. Leave it with me...
