Excellent Stranglers gig from the Roundhouse in late '77. (Part of this gig later formed the Live X-Certificate album). The pic above is from this very gig, with Hugh Cornwell performing his physical accompaniment to "School Mam"... Many thanks to Dave Sez for his assistance with the recent Stranglers posts...
Welcome To My Blog
Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again. Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.
Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content. I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. As such, if I have inadvertently "trodden on anyone's toes" in posting anything then please let me know & accept my apologies. Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week. So now I've told you the legal bit !

BLACK SLATE : Sirens In The City (vinyl rip)
BLACK SLATE
Thanks & big respect to Martin of Skelmersdale, who's very kindly just sent in a pile of rare Black Slate material, including some obsure vinyl rips. I'll kick off this cold, wet Bank Holiday Weekend with this eponymous title & post the rest over the next few days, along with more Stranglers titles & a few other bits & bobs. Download, enjoy & leave a comment or two. I'm sure Martin would be keen to read these also...

THE STRANGLERS : New Jersey, 1981.
Live recording of The Stranglers from Emerald City, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, dated 11/4/81.
While I presume the gig is part of the "Men In Black" tour, I've stuck a poster promoting "The Raven" here, as many of the tracks are from that excellent album.
Loads more Stranglers from 1976 - 80 to follow very soon.
Comments & feedback are always welcome & it'd be great to hear from a few new faces please...
For old school mate Jindy Jackson, last heard of in New York City...

JONATHAN RICHMAN : Living Room Acetate & Laura Palmer Tape
Another Monday morning - don't you just hate them ???
Its not all doom & gloom though - here's a couple of class Jonathan Richman recordings, & rare as rocking horse shit to boot...
Great additions to the old collection and very desirable.
One is an unreleased acetate of material & the other is a home recording tape Richman made for a young lady.
More studio & live rarities on the way shortly...

JOHNNY KIDD & THE PIRATES : The Lost BBC Sessions
Here's an interesting compilation, going back a bit further in time than the usual material on the blog. UK Rcok & Roll original Johnny Kidd was a huge figure in the late 50s and early 60s with a blend of rock & blues. The Pirates were a skilled backing band (despite numerous line up changes). Arguably their best guitarist, Mick Green pioneered a combined lead & rhythm style that influenced a generation of UK musicians and led to the demise of the 2nd (rhythm) guitarist in most bands of the era. Green was a major influence on people like Pete Townshend and Wilko Johnson, and, via them, to Paul Weller and beyond.
Have a listen and marvel @ Green's playing on this rare material recorded for the BBC in the early 60s...
For blog fan Chris Casey...
Dedicated to Johnny Kidd (Frederick Heath, died 1966) & Mick Green (died 2010).
