Welcome To My Blog

Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again. Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.

Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content. I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. As such, if I have inadvertently "trodden on anyone's toes" in posting anything then please let me know & accept my apologies. Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week. So now I've told you the legal bit !

  3. martin listening to your summer sampler i thought the tiger lily stuff was great, never heard that before, do you know of any ultravox demos gathering dust any where waiting to be shared?

  4. Wah-ho, martin! Serious answer for serious question - no studio demos out there but there are a number of early Ultravox tracks that have (so far) never been formally released :

    "TV Orphans"
    "I Wont Play Your Game"
"I Came Back Here To Meet You"
from Rockpop German TV, Autumn 1976

    "Radio Beach"
    3 versions from 1979 US tour, March 3, 4 and 8.

I have these four, and am compiling a post for you now. (Later?) ones I don't have:

    "Storms of Things"
    "The Day the World Ended"
    "Dark Love"
    "Do the Mutation"
    "Car Crash Flashback"
    "I Wont Play Your Game"
    "City Doesn't Care"

"There were many reasons we chose not to continue with the aforementioned songs; basically we were developing them by playing them live here and there, some more than others, and even recorded a few... but they weren't taken further (either finished/released) because we had other songs we were more excited about and which we felt were more representative of where were heading. Perhaps in retrospect, a few could've been taken further. To be fair, some were just that - fair. Except for a few hazy ones, I still remember them very well. They may have strong curiosity value now, but at the time we passed on them and I think we made the right decisions. Regards to all, Warren Cann."

Glad ya like it, matey! Keep the comments rolling in, cheers, Dave Sez.

  6. Hi martin, an Ultravox - Unsung Songs 76-79 post is in the queue for you, includes "TV Orphans", "I Wont Play Your Game" and "I Came Back Here To Meet You" (a cracker number!) from Rockpop German TV, Autumn 1976 and "Radio Beach" - 3 versions from 1979 US tour, March 3, 4 and 8. Bonus: video of the three Rockpop numbers!

Meanwhile, just a reminder to go and get the full version of the Marquee '78 gig (vinyl rip of a triple LP bootleg from Japan called Echoes of Pleasure which also includes the Ure-era Odeon Hammersmith 1980.12.13). Go thank min-min here:
http://ragpath.blogspot.com/2012/06/re-upload-echoes-of-pleasure-bootlegs.html. I'll be adding links for Foxx-era Ultravox gigs in the comments once the Unsung Songs post is up, but you might want to get busy on this one as well first:

John Foxx BBC Sessions. Sound quality is 'A'. This is a bootleg which unfortunately tells diddly squat about the dates, what session - but it wasn't Peel: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/johnpeel/artists/j/. Quirks ends abruptly but it also did on the live Ultravox 7in and I think that this version is the same as that single. Covers created by whoever did the bootleg.

    01 Hiroshima Mon Amour
    02 Shadow Of Your Smile
    03 Twilight's Last Gleaming
    04 Morning Glory
    05 In Mysterious Ways
    06 Hanging In the Air
    07 Music From Video Game
    08 Quirks (Abrupt Ending)

  7. Thanks Dave, I saw TV Smith live in June at the 12 bar club doing an acoustic set, these will be most appreciated. I have a copy of the TV Smith show from June if you are interested Skarmanc, so rather noise big mouths in the audience but that aside a great show.

Thanks again Dave, nice one and most grateful.

  11. This sounds like an intriguing title that piques my curiosity. I wonder if it's a story about the chaos of life or perhaps a thrilling adventure in the midst of a literal storm. Either way, I'm excited to dive into it! And hey, if you ever find yourself with unwanted cars in Gold Coast after your stormy adventure, consider reaching out to Cash for Unwanted Cars Gold Coast (Sell my car) for a convenient solution.
