Welcome To My Blog

Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again. Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.

Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content. I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. As such, if I have inadvertently "trodden on anyone's toes" in posting anything then please let me know & accept my apologies. Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week. So now I've told you the legal bit !

THE VAPORS : Live Guildford 1981 (BBC Rock Hour)

Here's a great archive find by Martin - The Vapors recorded live in Guildford, 1981 (possibly supporting The Jam) for the BBC Rock Hour Show. In fact, they were co-managed for a while by Bruce Foxton & John Weller...

Best remembered now for their hit "Turning Japanese" but have a listen & enjoy this blast from the past...

  1. Big thanks for this Mr Ska!! Always loved these guys. Thought they got short-changed as "one hit wonders", especially here in the US.

  2. No sex, no drugs, no wine, no women ....Everyone around me is a total stranger ... i like the lyrics of turning japanese
    thank`s mate-have a nice day your`s Pauli

  3. fantastic!!! wonderful recording.
    some of the carpettes?

  4. think we must be listening to the same stuff skaman! i bought this while ago from ebay and its very good, ive got a page on my blog regarding the new clear days album, these where such a underrated band, and clearly the success of japanese turned them into a novelty band, saw them a few times supporting the jam and also on there own tour, again a truly great recording from what i reckon is the 1st major britpop band!

  5. I agree it is rare to find any live stuff by them, they were the first band i ever saw live in 79, supporting SLF and STARJETS,who i really liked got both the albums top stuff,

  6. Cheers lads. Jimmy - ask Martin nicely & I'm sure he'll let me post some of his Carpettes stash lol

  7. It's on it's way mate, only got best of, there stuff is rarer then icicle works live links!

  8. Thanks m8. I'm sure Jimmy will aprreciate it too. Will post that for Saturday (Friday is going to feature Stef's Bad Manners youtube links - see c-box)...

  9. I was the one who originally transfered this show to MP3, uploaded it and posted the link to a few websites.
