Welcome To My Blog

Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again. Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.

Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content. I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week. So now I've told you the legal bit !

Brian Wilson : Smile / Pet Sounds Live

I have never been a particular fan of Brian Wilson and certainly not the Beach Boys. At best I thought of him as a half-decent songwriter and piss-poor bass guitarist. However, I came across these items recently and was slightly surprised to find that I quite liked certain tracks. As many people will know, "Pet Sounds" is universally seen as the best Beach Boys album and the highlight of Wilson's song writing. "Smile" was his attempt to top this piece of work, though was abandoned in 1966 due to Wilson's increasing personal problems, including drug abuse and mental health problems. He eventually managed to complete "Smile" and premiered it at the Royal Festival Hall, London, on Feb 20th 2004. Here is the studio version as originally planned, though completed almost 40 years after it was begun : http://rapidshare.com/files/351458215/Brian_Wilson_-_Smile.rar "Pet Sounds Live" was also premiered at The Royal Festival Hall, January 27-30 2002. This is a compilation of the album tracks recorded across the four nights : http://rapidshare.com/files/351458213/Brian_Wilson_-_Pet_Sounds_Live.rar
