Welcome To My Blog

Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again. Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.

Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content. I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. As such, if I have inadvertently "trodden on anyone's toes" in posting anything then please let me know & accept my apologies. Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week. So now I've told you the legal bit !

BRENDA HOLLOWAY : The Early Years (Rare Recordings 1962 - 1963)

Here's an excellent compilation of early tracks by the fantastic Brenda Holloway, easily one of my favourite Tamla Motown artistes. These 22 tracks predate her Hitsville material, though there are signs that this teenage vocalist had the class and ability to shine at Motown, which she indeed managed.

Best known / remembered today for the original version of the Small  Faces live favourite "Every Little Bit Hurts", Brenda remains a true legend to me, up there with Kim Weston.

  1. wonderful- brenda is a pearl, a diamond, great voice. thanx mein freund
great post`s this week-amazing stuff, spec. brenda and the james brown "boys".

    your`s pauli

  2. Danke Pauli. The Velvelettes, Mary Wells & the brilliant Kim Weston to follow soon... plus more Dusty of course.

  3. She was Motown's Secret Weapon... Who would know that she would be the most sought after Motown Artist to date...

Thanks you for posting this GEM

    Big Up!@!
