Decent 60s / Northern Soul compilation from the vaults of Sue records. This New York label founded a UK subsidiary in the early 1960s, run by Island records supremo Chris Blackwell and the producer - soul fan - speed freak - genius Guy Stevens. Some of their 45s are literally priceless - save a fortune & download here courtesy of Skamanc. I am returning to Soul in a big way recently - probably reliving my (some might say) mis-spent youth / teen years on the Manchester Soul scene.
Dedicated to Guy Stevens & Juke Box Johnson & everyone who attended an allniter @ The New Century Hall (Manchester).
Expect a new Northern craze anytime, as today sees the release of a film set in / around the Wigan Casino in 1974. Not seen it (yet)...May well have a squizz if I find the time.
many many thanks for sharing

ReplyDeleteGot loads of Bowie as it happens, from the Davy Jones (mod)period onwards. Be glad to post it periodically. Currently re-listening to the Berlin stuff - that's what originally got me into Krautrock, like Neu! etc
