Phil makes another contribution to the ongoing Heatwave posts : here's The B52's set from the 1980 Canadian festival. The usual big "thanks" to him for this & all his other recent help.

The Clash set will deffo be out there. The Kings ? Never heard of 'em. I'd like the Rockpile set also - Nick Lowe was / is a phenomenal writer & bassist. Also produced the early Damned stuff...
ReplyDeleteThe Clash never played they pulled out last minute, Google says they either cancelled or were held up at customs!
ReplyDeleteI saw that earlier while I was looking for the Nick Lowe stuff. (Didn't find it...)
ReplyDeleteFinally about to post the 1976 Screen on the Green gig : Pistols, Clash & Buzzcocks

Just reuploading it now via Rapidshite. Will "comment" again with the new code & I'll also paste it straight into the HTML...

ReplyDeleteI was at Heatwave. The Clash pulled out a few days ahead of the fest. Talking Heads -- who debuted the big band lineup of the group that day -- IMO were the standout act of the day -- and in the pre-Internet days, it was a total surprise, that blew away the crowd. But all the bands played superb sets that day.
