Another great file courtesy of Jonny. Many thanks !!
Welcome To My Blog
Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again. Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.
Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content. I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. As such, if I have inadvertently "trodden on anyone's toes" in posting anything then please let me know & accept my apologies. Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week. So now I've told you the legal bit !

SOFT MACHINE : BBC Radio Sessions 1967 - 1971
Excellent couple of hours worth of Soft Machine @ the BBC. Not everyone's cup of tea so I'd be interested in comments etc regarding this material.

KIM WESTON : The Motown Anthology
Excellent 48 track, double CD collection by one of my all time favourite soul singers, Miss Kim Weston. (Whom I had the privilege of seeing live @ Blackpool FC, 2006). Some great, well known soul sides on here, plus more obscure material and alternative versions etc. Absolutely essential download... More Motown coming soon.
POLY STYRENE (1957 - 2011) RIP.
Former X Ray Spex singer Poly Styrene (Marianne Joan Elliott - Said) sadly passed away yesterday, having been suffering from cancer. RIP.
Search this blog for some previous X Ray Spex downloads. Here also are a few clips...

BRENDA HOLLOWAY : The Early Years (Rare Recordings 1962 - 1963)
Here's an excellent compilation of early tracks by the fantastic Brenda Holloway, easily one of my favourite Tamla Motown artistes. These 22 tracks predate her Hitsville material, though there are signs that this teenage vocalist had the class and ability to shine at Motown, which she indeed managed.
Best known / remembered today for the original version of the Small Faces live favourite "Every Little Bit Hurts", Brenda remains a true legend to me, up there with Kim Weston.

GENO WASHINGTON & THE RAM JAM BAND : Shake A Tail Feather Baby ! (1968)
Another great soul act today, and one that will be forever immortal due to the Dexy's single name check.
Geno was an American serviceman (US Air Force) based in the UK, where he stayed to make his name after completing his service.
For Fatbhoyjim & S.K. (Sussex)...

JIMMY JAMES & THE VAGABONDS : Sock It To 'em JJ ! (The Soul Years)
An excellent collection that I've been playing a lot recently. Jimmy James was a UK based Jamaican in the sixties. Unlike many of his countrymen Ska musicians, he favoured the R&B / Soul side, and was a prolific recording artist (the Picadilly & Pye labels, followed by Trojan in the 70s). He was also a massive draw on the soul club scene, like contemporaries Geno Washington, Zoot Money, Georgie Fame & so on. I bet Kevin Rowland heard Jimmy's records before starting Dexy's...
This post consists of 49 live & studio tracks & is well worth downloading & burning onto a couple of CD's... Comments, as always, most welcome.
BLUEBEAT 45's Volume 5
Thanks to Paul Baily for the latest instalment in this essential series....
Please let me have some feedback on this stuff... It might be nice to leave a note or two of thanks for Paul also. Just checked Rapidshare - 191 downloads to date of Vol's 1-4, sadly not reflected in feedback...
FRED WESLEY & MACEO PARKER : Solo Albums (1970 - 77)
Two absolute classics & personal favourites here, from long term James Brwon sidemen Fred Wesley & Maceo Parker....
First up is "Doing Their Own Thing (1970) by Maceo & All The King's Men, followed by 1977's "A Blow For Me A Toot For You" by Fred Wesley & The Horny Horns.
Decent period soul - funk this & both very highly recommended downloads.

LED ZEPPELIN : BBC Sessions
Here's a reasonable collection of Led Zep's BBC sessions. Personally, I much prefer the earlier material which shows a wide range of influences.
For Martin & Pauli.
The link is working fine my end. Try this...
PS Flag download icon is now repaired. Sorry for any inconvenience.
DUSTY SPRINGFIELD : A Girl Called Dusty (1964)

Dedicated to : Toure (for the goal), Balotelli (for winding up Cap'n Cripple), Hart (those saves), Kompany (inspired captaincy)... in fact feck it... dedicated to every City player & staff member involved.
